Booking A Vehicle


What Do I Need to Book a Vehicle?

  • Name & age of the driver(s)
  • Type of Vehicle Required

Payments — How do I Pay for My Hire?

Full rental plus a refundable deposit is required at the time of collection. Major credit and debit cards are accepted only — no cash, cheques, or digital wallets. The Card Holder must be present and sign the agreement.

What Age Do I Need To Be to Hire?

Standard rentals are available for customers aged 25–70 years. Special conditions and/or insurance approval apply for ages 21–24 and 71–75.

How Much Driving Experience do I Need to Hire?

A full driving licence must have been held for at least one year. Drivers aged 21–24 are required to have held their licence for at least 2 years. Endorsed licences may be accepted at the company's discretion.

Can I Add Additional Drivers?

Yes, additional drivers can be put on the agreement if they satisfy our insurance criteria.
All drivers must attend and sign the agreement when collecting the vehicle, they each will require the same documents as the main driver. Only the named drivers on the rental agreement are insured to drive the vehicle

Can I Hire a Vehicle for Someone Else?

Yes, you can pay for the hire however; the payee and all drivers must attend and sign the agreement when collecting the vehicle.

Can I Change or Cancel a Booking?

Yes, please contact us as soon as possible and we will try to accomodate your needs.

What is the Insurance Excess?

Rates include comprehensive insurance - excess £850 to £1500 (£2000 for overhead damage to vans, total loss or theft).
Excess reduction may be available, please ask when booking.

Will the Vehicle Have Breakdown Cover?

All vehicles are covered by AA, RAC, or manufacturer roadside assistance.

Can I Take the Vehicle Overseas?

Vehicles cannot leave England, Scotland, or Wales without prior written consent.
Overseas packages are available upon request for most vehicles.

Can I Use the Vehicle for Business or Commercial Purposes?

Yes, our vehicles can be used for both personal and business use, Please explain clearly when booking what the intended use is for the vehicle to ensure it's not excluded by our insurers.

Are the Vehicles Automatic or Manual?

We have automatic options in some classes of vehicle, check the Vehicle Features or call our team who will be pleased to help.

Do the Vehicles Have Towing Capability?

Some classes of vehicle have tow bars, check the Vehicle Features or call our team who will be pleased to help.

Do the Vehicles Have Satnav?

Some classes of vehicle have Satnav, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. please call our team who will be pleased to help.

Collecting A Vehicle


What Should I Bring When Collecting a Vehicle?

  • A full valid driving licence (no exceptions)
  • A guaranteed method of payment for rental and deposit
  • 2 forms of ID (e.g., passport, utility bill, bank statement dated within the last 3 months)

All drivers must attend and sign the agreement when collecting the vehicle, they each will require the same documents as the main driver. Only the named drivers on the rental agreement are insured to drive the vehicle

Please contact us immediately if you are unable to collect at the scheduled time.

Photo Licence

Any customer who holds a U.K. licence must obtain a Licence Summary from the DVLA website. The company cannot rent to customers without checking for endorsements.

Old Paper Licence

Customers with old paper licences must obtain a Licence Summary from the DVLA website. Endorsement verification is mandatory.

Can I Collect the Vehicle Outside Opening Hours?

Collections can only be made during our normal opening hours.

New Customers

Identification verification is standard practice for all new renters.

During The Hire


What Happens if I Need to Return the Vehicle Late?

Vehicles must be returned at the time stated on the rental agreement, the insurance cover will expire at that time.
If an extension is required then please contact us ASAP, we will check if we have continued availability of the vehicle and extend the insurance period appropriately, this will incurr an additional charge for the extension.
If you need to return early then this can be done by dropping off the vehicle to the return branch during normal opening hours.

What Happens in the Event of a Breakdown?

If the break down is during opening hours, please call us using the number on the rental agreement. If out of hours then please use the numbers on the bottom of your rental agreement for breakdown or tyre service. Be aware there may be charges in the event of user error or damage.

What Should I Do if I Have an Accident?

  • Ensure everyone is safe and contact emergency services if required
  • Take pictures of all the vehicles involved
  • Exchange details with all third parties, not admitting liability
  • Contact us ASAP with all the above
  • Complete and return an Accident Report Form

Can I Return the Vehicle Outside Opening Hours?

Returns should only be made during our normal opening hours unless agreed in advance. Please ask if it's possible when you make your booking or collect the vehicle.

Complaints

Please contact us by phone or email at resolutions@parkhurst.biz. We aim to reply within 14 days outlining the timescale and requirements for resolution.

Unresolved Disputes

If you have an unresolved dispute you can contact the BVRLA to use their Alternative Dispute Resolution service. They will look to resolving the matter based on information provided by both parties.
