Vehicle Hire Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all vehicle hire agreements with Parkhurst Self Drive Hire Limited.

Collecting a Vehicle

When collecting a vehicle, please bring the following:

  • A full valid driving licence (no exceptions)
  • A guaranteed method of payment for rental and deposit
  • 2 forms of identification (e.g., passport, utility bill, bank statement)

Please contact the company immediately if you are unable to collect at the scheduled time.

Photo Licence

Any customer who holds a U.K. photo licence must obtain a Licence Summary from the DVLA website. The company cannot rent to customers without checking for endorsements.

Old Paper Licence

Customers with old paper licences must obtain a Licence Summary from the DVLA website. Endorsement verification is mandatory.

Driving Licence

A full driving licence must have been held for at least one year. Drivers aged 21–24 are required to have held their licence for at least 2 years. Endorsed licences may be accepted at the company's discretion.

Age

Standard rentals are available for customers aged 25–70 years. Special conditions and/or insurance approval apply for ages 21–24 and 71–75.

Insurance

Rates include comprehensive insurance with an excess of £850 to £1,500 (£2,000 for overhead damage to vans, total loss or theft).

Payment

Full rental plus a refundable deposit is required at the time of collection. Major credit and debit cards are accepted only — no cash, cheques, or digital wallets.

Breakdown Cover

All vehicles are covered by AA, RAC, or manufacturer roadside assistance.

Foreign Travel

Vehicles cannot leave England, Scotland, or Wales without prior written consent. Overseas packages are available upon request.

New Customers

Identification verification is standard practice for all new renters.

Complaints

Please contact us by phone or email at resolutions@parkhurst.biz. We aim to reply within 14 days outlining the timescale and requirements for resolution.

Unresolved Disputes

If you have an unresolved dispute you can contact the BVRLA to use their Alternative Dispute Resolution service. They will look to resolving the matter based on information provided by both parties.
